Long eared owl in Scotland

There are many special places in Scotland, from Mull, with the highest density of nesting Golden eagles in Europe,  Chanonry Point, the best place in the world to see bottlenose dolphins from the shore and then the various lochs, moorland  and forests -ospreys, short eared owls. hen harriers etc etc. it was on one such outing, in 2018, photographing short eared owls that I took the long eared owl. It flew in front of us several times and then decided to come and have a look flying directly over us at low level. Armed with a Canon 80D  and the 400mm DO II, lens, I was delighted with the results. It was when we got home we realised it was in fact a long eared owl rather than short eared owl. We went back to the same place the following evenings but with no luck. Maybe 2019 will give us another opportunity.
